Amie Martinez, LMHC
It would be my pleasure to help you on your journey and walk with you as you overcome the obstacles in your life. My goal is to help you grow and look for new horizons. I have worked with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, past traumas, bipolar disorders, attention deficits/hyperactivity, chronic illness/pain, and substance use. Clients have come in saying things like “I can’t seem to get motivated”, “I feel stuck”, “I expected things to go differently for me”, “I want to move past my trauma”, or “I don’t know what it is, but I don’t want to feel this way anymore.” No matter what part of your journey brought you here, I have lots of tools for your tool box, bag, or belt to help you manage your symptoms and work towards your goals.
I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology from Canisius University, then later obtained my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Medaille University. I previously worked in a community behavioral health clinic as a counselor and program manager. I am trained in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT/tapping), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I utilize a person-centered and trauma informed approach to ensure clients feel heard and safe in sessions. I am body positive, LGBTQIA+ friendly and gender affirming. I strive to make a safe and judgment free space for all individuals.
