Heather Middleton, LMHC-D

Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Recognizing the need for change and seeking support are significant first steps on your path to healing and wellness! The idea of going to therapy can be intimidating and the fact that you are here is evidence that you have more inner strength and courage than you know. My intention is to provide a safe, comfortable space for you to come as you are, and to honor your needs by working towards your goals at your pace.

Creating a balance between mental health and wellness is essential to living a meaningful life. My approach to treatment is person-centered, exploring your inner and outer world experiences from a non-judgmental, trauma-informed approach. This includes bringing awareness to what the body is holding, as well as addressing thought and behavior patterns that activate the nervous system, which contribute to dysregulation and emotional pain. Clients I work with may be experiencing anxiety, depression, addictive behaviors, substance abuse, stage of life, or relationship/intimacy issues.

Professional Experience

After graduating with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of New Mexico in 2017, I began treating individuals, couples, and groups in an outpatient setting. I have been trained in the modalities of EMDR, DBT, CBT, MI, MBSEP (Mindfulness-based somatic emotional processing), Brianspotting, RTM (Reconsolidation of traumatic memories) and I am a certified RTM coach for the Research and Recognition Foundation. My clinical experience has been rich in diversity and I strive to create a culture of celebration and affirmation for every individual.

I am committed to supporting clients in their process of healing, recovery, and finding joy in life. Our work together will be collaborative, relational, and in service to you. I look forward to connecting with you soon!
