Samantha Sessamen, LMHC
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Sam loves working with children, teens and young adults with a focus on healing and managing painful emotions. She can help you work through stressful life events and unhealthy behaviors. Loneliness, anger, dealing with a divorce, bullying and defiant behaviors are all potential areas of focus for counseling. Sam provides both individual and family counseling. A family’s beliefs, values and structure set the stage for how you view yourself and the world. Including your family in working through a difficult situation can be rewarding and transformative.
Professional Experience
Sam practices from an Internal Family Systems and Dialectical Behavior Therapy approach. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who received her M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Buffalo in 2012 and received her Licensure in 2014.
Sam has 5 years of counseling experience, which includes in-home therapy with children and teens. This has given her a unique understanding of what interventions are practical and effective for families. Sam can provide you or your family with techniques that can be realistically implemented despite your busy schedule. Sam also has 8 years of experience working in a primary care setting where she saw the positive changes that are possible when a client’s providers collaborate and treat the whole person. Sam prioritizes getting a full picture of you, which may include your physical health, spiritual beliefs and family background.
