Wendy Michalski, LMHC-D
There is a quiet, steady truth in the idea that we are each the primary experts on our own lives. Often, the answers we seek are not missing. They are simply obscured by the noise of the world or the heavy weight of the past. I work with adults aged eighteen and older who are navigating
the complex terrain of the human heart—be it the challenges of divorce and women’s issues, or the deeper, more stubborn weight of anxiety, depression, sexual trauma, PTSD, and dissociative disorders. My work is to provide the room to pause and listen to those internal truths.
I believe the safety of the therapeutic process—the calm and the steady trust—allows a person to act as the explorer of their own history. Together, we examine the architecture of the self, seeing where the foundation has shifted and where it remains strong. Therapy is a way of looking at the
dark until the eyes adjust. It is the privilege of witnessing a person clear the brush from a path they thought was lost forever. Healing is not the absence of a scar. It is the moment the scar stops threatening the integrity of the house and becomes a sturdy beam in its structure. It is the difficult, brave act of taking the frayed threads of experience and learning to weave them into a beautiful soul. In the middle of this hard work, humor often arrives like a sudden breeze, reminding us that we are human, and therefore, still capable of joy.
Professional Experience
For thirteen years, I have practiced with the belief that healing is a collaborative process. My approach is built upon the firm ground of empathy and a deep understanding of how our earliest connections shape the lives we lead today. I specialize in trauma-informed and attachment-
focused care, providing a steady hand for those navigating the shadows of the past.
I incorporate Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to provide the tools for daily stability, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to reach those deeper memories that words alone cannot touch. A graduate of Medaille College with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, I remain a dedicated student of my craft. I ensure that my practice remains as precise as it is compassionate, mindful that the most attentive care is that which honors the quiet strength of the human spirit.
